ChTPZ Group and Rimera have been contracted to deliver 820 mm pipes and bends made from K56 steel with 12, 17, and 19 mm walls by year's end. SOT plant, the Chelyabinsk-based asset of Rimera Group, will be delivering a total of 293 hot bends. Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant will supply over 12,500 tonnes of tubulars. All of the bends and some of the tubulars (2,000 tonnes) intended for the third leg of the Zapolyarye - Purpe oil pipeline will be thermally insulated with polyurethane foam under a protective coating applied at the new thermal insulation stations of ChTPZ.
Thermal insulation is applied on TKPS equipment (Holland) using a process developed and perfected by the pipe rolling plant. The process involves pouring the insulation compound without the use of alignment supports. ChTPZ is the only Russian company to manufacture thermally insulated pipes and fittings using this technology, which enhances the heat performance properties of insulation. The pipe and bend thermal insulation stations were certified in the system of Transneft in 2012 and 2013. ChTPZ Group previously shipped over 13,600 tonnes of 1,020 mm thermally insulated tubulars to Transneft.
"The business relationship between SOT, the Chelyabinsk-based plant of Rimera Group, and Transneft has always been a vibrant one. This year's interim results make it safe to say that it is still the case. In the nine months of this year alone, our shipments are up 20% in money terms year-on-year", Rimera Group CEO Vitaliy Sadykov thus describes the relationship with the biggest customer of SOT plant.
"ChTPZ Group and Transneft have a long history, with such joint projects as the Eastern Siberia – Pacific Ocean (ESPO) 2 pipeline, Baltic Pipeline System 2, and Purpe-Samotlor pipeline", says ChTPZ Group CEO Yaroslav Zhdan, adding: "With each new project, our pipes are subject to more and more rigorous requirements. Now that we have launched our specialized thermal insulation stations, we have the capability to deliver the full range of tubulars that Transneft needs".
