The OKSh stamped knuckle bends, 325 to 530 mm in diameter, are intended for construction and repair operations at SZMN (North-West Oil Trunk Pipelines), Uralsibnefteprovod (Chernyaev Ural-Siberia Oil Trunk Pipelines), Privolzhsknefteprovod and others. SOT will ship a total of more than 100 of the bends in the first quarter of 2013, hot drawn across a horn-shaped core rod.
Earlier, the Magnitogorsk division of SOT specialized in products for utilities and nuclear power generation. Last year, SOT engineers designed new specifications for the bends, and fabricated and tested the prototypes. As a result, the manufacturing site successfully passed evaluation by Diascan, Transneft’s technical diagnostics center.
Closer cooperation with the energy sector and expansion of the energy product line are strategic activities for both Rimera and ChelPipe. The two companies supply Transneft with pipe bends and large-diameter pipes for repair and maintenance and construction of trunk pipelines, such as the Eastern Siberia–Pacific Ocean oil pipeline, Baltic Pipeline System, and Purpe–Samotlor. Last year, Rimera’s shipments to Transneft showed more than double growth on 2011.
