The test bed with a modernized design is intended for direct measurement of axial force in pump stages. The puspose of fitting the test bed with the measuring device is to determine the axial load of the impeller on its bearing. This is required for analyzing of axial bearings in both ESPs and protectors, and for determining of bearing disk wear intensity.
Knowing an exact load value allows for achieving of several objectives: perform well-grounded analysis and design of various equipment units, and more thoroughly select thrust bearing types and sizes, which, in turn, will allow preventing wear of moving stages’ axial couplings — a hot issue for oil producing companies.
Thus, well-grounded structural design of ESP units and parts serves oil companies’ requirements to ensure sufficient operational life of submersible equipment.
The goals set when designing the device were achieved and verified through testing of the upgraded test bed. The measuring device is entering operation at the company’s Almetyevsk plant on February 8, 2013. The entire research project is part of an ambitious production modernization program. The total investment budget of Alnas development in 2011-2014 will exceed RUB1.2 mln.
