When the upgrading of the Alnas casting shop is complete, the German-made equipment will have replaced more than twenty existing hot-box automatic core making machines. The Laempe casting line will use the cold box amine technology, which reduces footprint, power consumption and the labor intensity of core making operations, lowering product costs 1.5 times, not to mention that it has higher performance. One core making cycle currently takes between five and ten minutes, whereas a Laempe machine reduces that to 40 to 50 seconds.
“We are planning to complete the startup operations at the end of April,” Alnas Chief Technical Officer Yevgeniy Grigoryan commented. “These will be followed by acceptance tests of the automated plant. Two sets of production tooling have been delivered to Alnas for that purpose, and our personnel are in the process of training to operate the German equipment without supervision. The testing and refinement of the tooling made by the Alnas pilot tool-making facility are going in parallel to that.”
The capacity of the Almetyevsk, Tatarstan based company is expected to reach 9500 electric submersible pump systems per year once the modernization project, which has been running since 2011 without suspending of the production process, is complete.
