Alnas will deliver the first batch of 9 000 grids before the end of February. The grids will be used for covering storm drain inlets across Moscow. It will take 40 tons of strong gray iron to manufacture the batch. The total annual scope of the contract is almost 55 000 grids, to be shipped to various regions across Russia.
“The equipment for making the new type of product was made by the Alnas pilot tool-making facility,” said Alnas Chief Technical Officer Yevgeniy Grigoryan. “This is a simple range that does not require either additional cores or machining. That said, we get strong, wearproof products.”
Alnas-made storm drain inlet grids have increased strength and resistance to wear. The products are easy to handle and can be used for their intended purpose upon casting.
Another Rimera Group company, SOT, with a manufacturing site in Magnitogorsk, is a regular supplier of products to public utilities. SOT delivers short-radius, solid-drawn pipe bends between 57 mm and 820 in diameter, end plates and stamped pipe adapters up to 530 mm in diameter.
