According to the plan, this year JSC «Pipeline Bends» will supply a total of 1,400 tonnes of products for construction and commissioning of power generating units by Fortum's Chelyabinsk HEPP. The contract is for pipe spools of varying complexity, including some using pipe fittings made by JSC «Pipeline Bends»'s Magnitogorsk branch (57-630 mm diameter bends and adapters drawn over a horn-shaped core rod). The prefabricated assemblies are designed for integrating the production systems of HEPP power generating units, such as system water/desalinated water pipelines, oil lines, etc.

The contract marks JSC «Pipeline Bends»'s first experience as a supplier for a large-scale energy project. To get JSC «Pipeline Bends» into the project its engineers had developed new specifications for steam and hot water pipeline components and obtained Rostekhnadzor permits for the use thereof. Rimera's manufacturing company has solid experience breaking installation diagrams up into individual blocks, such as was done for Gazprom's Sakhalin – Khabarovsk – Vladivostok project.

“Aside from the massive amount of drawings completed by our design bureau, this order stands out for the fact that it is the first time we are welding pipe spools combining traditional 09G2S steel and 08Х18Н10Т stainless steel components,” says Leonid Malamud, JSC «Pipeline Bends» Executive Director. “During the preparation phase we performed breakdown tests for stainless steel welds to confirm the mechanical properties of the welded connections.”

Fortum is one of Rimera's strategic partners, also buying from MSA. Early this year the Czech factory signed a contract for a parcel of ball valves for Fortum's Swedish branch Fortum AB. MSA valves will be used in an upgrade of Stockholm's heat supply mains.
