Representatives of the audit authority, Samara Technical Engineering Center, spent a number of days closely examining the production and testing capacities of Rimear's plant and assessing all processes – from billet inspection to issuance of shipping documents for finished products. The auditors rated highly the level of production management at the Pipeline Bends Plant in accordance with White Metallurgy standards – a production system implemented at all ChelPipe Group plants.
The audit was preceded by preparation of project-specific technical specifications TU-034 by Pipeline Bends Plant experts at the request of Rosneft. Fitting specimens successfully passed a series of tests that included corrosion resistance testing.
“While previously we had been able to deliver only hot bends to Rosneft, now the range of shipments has expanded to include cold bends, tees, collars, and parts with collars, as well as products by our Magnitogorsk-based division – short-radius bends, bottoms made of corrosion-resistant steel grades, such as 13KhFA and 09GSF,” says Pipeline Bends Plant Executive Director Leonid Malamud.
The Pipeline Bends Plant is also licensed for engineering and manufacture of parts and assemblies for nuclear power plants. It is currently undergoing a scheduled audit by the Urals Department for Nuclear and Radiation Safety Oversight. The audit results will be released in the near future.
