Over the first 1.5 months of the new year SOT will produce 32 pcs. 1,420 mm diameter hot-formed bends with 27.7 mm thick wall, steel grade К65, under the contract with the gas giant. All the items will have PK-40 or PK-60 anticorrosive protection. The external take over will be performed by Business-Trend inspectorate. The bends are for the Pisarevka-Anapa section of the South Corridor pipeline.
“Compared to other pipeline projects, South Corridor requires fittings with higher strength properties. Our technologies and bending equipment, particularly the new AWS Shaefer pipe-bending mill, allow us to produce bends of required quality without any preliminary operations,” says Leonid Malamud, SOT Executive Director.
Gazprom is one of the key buyers, but not only for SOT. Last year the Chelyabinsk facility alone sold the gas giant some 1,600 tonnes of pipe fittings. Most of those were hot-formed bends for Phase Two of Bovanenkovo-Ukhta trunk pipeline and the South Corridor and pipe spools for Pisarevka compressor station. Rimera Group's Czech-based MSA is yet another of Gazprom's suppliers. In 2013 MSA sold Gazprom over 1,050 ball valves.
