This October, the Chelyabinsk-based plant SOT, part of Rimera Group, will ship close to 20 tonnes of 1.5 DN bends to the state-owned company Turkmengaz.
Rimera to Supply a Shipment of Short-Radius Bends for an Expansion Project on a Major Gas Pipeline in Turkmenistan
Diam. 720 mm and 1,420 mm hot bends with a wall thickness of 20 mm and 32 mm, made from K60 grade steel, are designed for connecting a 90 km looping (a pipeline section laid parallel to the main pipeline to increase throughput) and shunt pipes to the Malay - Bagtiyarlyk gas pipeline currently in operation.
"The batch of fittings will be manufactured at the new German-made pipe bending mill launched by Rimera Group last year", says SOT Executive Director Leonid Lamamud, adding: "The process features of modern equipment enable us to manufacture hot bends with a small bending radius (1-1.5 DN) instead of short-radius stamped and welded bends".
Central Asian petroleum companies are traditional buyers of main pipeline equipment manufactured by Rimera Group plants. Besides shipments for the Malay - Bagtiyarlyk branch pipeline, which is the Turkmen leg of the Central Asia - China gas pipeline, the Chelyabinsk-based SOT plant is currently filling an order for hot bends to be used in the Uzbek leg of the same gas pipeline. MSA plant, the Czech operation of Rimera, is supplying valves for this gas pipeline.
